This quiet region of small islands stretches from Seven Mile Bridge to Key West at Stock Island. The islands are home to two national wildlife refuges, a national marine sanctuary and Bahia Honda State Park. There are family-owned resorts, RV parks, campgrounds, quaint B&B’s, vacation homes, as well as eclectic restaurants, native wilderness and rich history.
You can ride a bicycle through Key Deer country, take a fishing adventure, or troll the deep blue waters beyond the reef. The Lower Keys are the least developed of the Florida Keys and in many ways the most natural. The last remaining herd of Key Deer is found here.

Long been recognized as one of the special jewels of the Florida Keys reef tract, the coral reef of Looe Key has been given special protection since 1981. As a result, there are large schools of friendly fish and a gorgeous coral reef.
Wreck diving came in a big way in 1998 with the intentional sinking of a 210-foot island freighter. It is perfectly upright and intact in just 100 feet of water some seven miles southwest of Big Pine Key. Much marine life now calls this wreck their home.
World Class Fishing
The Lower Keys are located between the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean. Strong currents flow from the Gulf to the Ocean through these islands. The long channels between the islands have well-protected shallow bays, flats & mangrove islands. This brings a diversity of gamefish and fishing grounds. Fishing charters know the best spots for a successful offshore or inshore fishing experience. The area offers world class opportunities to anglers of all skill levels.
The Lower Keys are just minutes away once you land at either the Key West International Airport or the Florida Keys Marathon Airport. Driving by land, simply take US-1 at Florida City south to the Keys. Shuttle services are available by Greyhound Lines, Keys Shuttle or TransFloridian. Experienced boaters can reach the Lower Keys by navigating along the Atlantic side of the Keys or by traveling through the Intracoastal Waterway.
