Good Sam Cleanup DaysHow to pitch in on Good Sam Cleanup Days, May 19 and 20

Members of the Good Sam Club know better than anyone how to have a good time in the great outdoors, but we also know that pristine outdoor playgrounds don’t just happen. That’s why thousands of members across North America will grab their garbage bags and gather at public parks, beaches and roadsides on the weekend of May 19 and 20, 2012, during Good Sam Cleanup Days.

Everyone’s invited to pitch in during the 16th annual Cleanup Days event. Here’s how you can lend a hand:

• If you’re already a member of one of Good Sam’s 1,500 Chapters, make sure your Chapter’s May outing includes a Cleanup Days activity. Check with the staff at a state or municipal park or campground to see if you can pick up debris, prune bushes or clear hiking trails. Or contact your regional Adopt-a-Highway program to see if there’s a mile of roadway in need of some spring cleaning. As an added incentive, Chapters that fill at least 10 trash bags can enter this year’s drawing for Camping World merchandise certificates. For more information please contact your Chapter president, your state or provincial director, or e-mail [email protected].

• If you aren’t a member of a Good Sam Chapter, scout out a group in your area and offer to help. It’s easy to get in touch with nearby Chapters by emailing your state or provincial director. You might make new friends and decide to join the Chapter for future campouts.

• Even if you don’t volunteer with a Good Sam Chapter, you can still make a difference during this year’s Cleanup Days. Try rounding up some friends and family members to tidy up a community park or riverside that weekend. If you have a good time, think about forming a new Chapter with your group. You can find out how at GoodSamClub.com/Chapters in the Start a New Chapter box.

This year’s Cleanup Days is cosponsored by Good Sam’s sister company, Camping World. Throughout the two-day event, Good Sam members are welcome to drop off bags of trash at any one of Camping World’s 85 locations.

As part of the club’s Samaritan spirit, Good Sam encourages members to be active stewards of North America’s natural resources by not only volunteering during the annual Cleanup Days but also by leaving their RV campsites cleaner than when they arrived. For more information please contact your Chapter president, state/provincial director, or e-mail [email protected].

  1. Thomas – thank you for your interest in participating in Good Sam Cleanup Days. As part of this event, the Good Sam Club had a set number of cleanups bags available. However, it sounds like your state has ran out them in which case you can use any other type of bags that you wish. We hope this helps to provide clarification on this. If you have any additional questions concerning the Good Sam Cleanup Days, please email [email protected].

  2. Both our chapter President and I have tried to order yellow cleanup bags and haven’t been able to.

He was told to use black bags.

What is true and are the yellow bags a thing of the past.

Our chapter cleanup in the week of May 10th and need bags by then.

Please let me know what to do.

    Thank you, Tom
