At Branson Lakeside RV Park in Branson, Missouri, guests can hook big trout at a world-class fishing destination, snag great retail deals nearby or catch big-name entertainment just blocks away.
Located on the shores of Lake Taneycomo next to the Branson Landing shopping complex, the 160-site RV park caters to both nature lovers and tourists who enjoy city life. The resort has lakeside sites with stunning views of 2,000-acre body of water, as well as an onsite marina and boat ramp. Ample rainbow trout or brown trout bite on lines cast from the fishing dock or boats that can be rented on site. Scotty’s Trout Dock and Marina also offers fishing guides, live bait and other tackle needs.
Looking to get closer to nature? Rent a kayak and paddle out into the water. “During October and November, bald eagles come to the lake,” says Sherrell Dikes, who manages the RV park with her husband, Jim. “You can paddle right under those beautiful birds.”
Folks in need of retail therapy will find lots of shopping at nearby Branson Landing, a waterfront retail development lined with big name retail outlets like Bass Pro Shops, Victoria’s Secret and Hot Topic. Restaurants include the Black Oak Grill, Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que and Grille and Joe’s Crab Shack.
Only five blocks from the campground, guests will encounter Branson’s theaters, home to top-name entertainers ranging from the Osmond Brothers to comedian Yakov Smirnoff. With more than 60 theaters in town, as well as a number of additional performance venues, guests will never run out of entertainment options.
“You could stay here for years,” explains Sherrell.
Of course, much of that time can be spent at the campground, where guests can relax in one of the large, pull-thru sites and enjoy full hookups with 30- 50-amps and free Wi-Fi. When not enjoying the lake or nearby city, guests can take their furry friends for walks at the off-leash dog park.
Up to 80 percent of the park’s guests bring their dogs, says Sharrell, and the park returns the favor by offering doggy bags to four-legged passengers.
The park also offers free cable television, a pavilion, heated showers and restrooms, paved roads and air-conditioned laundry facilities. Gests who stay six nights get the seventh night free.
While many guests visit during the summer, Sharrell says that fall draws visitors seeking cooler temperatures and the area’s red and gold autumn leaves.
“We have a big parade on Veteran’s day,” says Sherrell.
During the Holiday season, the city of Branson lights up in amazing decorations. “Around Christmas, a lot of people come for the shows and stay for the shopping,” says Sherrell. “We have specialty shops that can’t be found anywhere else.”
