If you enjoy visiting RV parks with golf, The Lakes RV Park & Golf Resort is a great destination for you. Located in Chowchilla, CA, The Lakes is a “perfect RV resort” rated 10/10*/10 by Good Sam. The resort offers complimentary golf for two during each day of your stay on an award-winning, 18-hole championship golf course.
A short walk from your campsite will bring you to Pheasant Run Golf Course, which has a reputation for being one of the best-maintained golf courses in the San Joaquin Valley. The course is situated around the many lakes inspiring the name of this RV park with golf and offers rewarding challenges for every golfer.
The quick greens and manicured fairways remain lush the entire year because of a unique blend of grass created just for this San Joaquin Valley golf resort. The fairways are shaped and contoured for a rich golf experience before reaching the course’s smooth, fast and undulating greens. Bring plenty of golf balls, because water hazards are found on 14 of the 18 holes on this golf course designed by Richard Bigler.
At Pheasant Run, you will also find an award-winning restaurant called Putters Bistro & Pub, which overlooks the course’s scenic 18th green. The restaurant is an excellent option, whether you wish to indulge in some refreshment after a round of golf or elect to stroll from your RV over to the clubhouse for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Another option after your game is relaxing on the spacious clubhouse patio at the RV Park overlooking the park’s pool, spa and its own lake featuring a water fountain.
The lush landscaping of the park and golf course attract a multitude of singing birds and an evening stroll to watch the sun setting over the golf course is a must while you are here.
For some variety, consider nearby golfing at a unique course. The Lakes RV Park & Golf Resort is situated only an hour and forty-minute drive from Yosemite’s nine-hole, par-35 Wawona Golf Course.
This course was the first in the Sierra Nevada when it opened in 1918. At an elevation of 4,000 feet, the relatively flat course follows the Merced River amid ponderosa pine and cedar trees. It is one of the few organic golf courses in the United States with no pesticides applied to the course and only gray water used for watering the greens! The rolling terrain and the variety of challenging holes amid the tranquil setting of this historic golf course are well worth the drive during your stay at The Lakes. Alternatively, make the drive and spend the day sightseeing in Yosemite National Park itself. The options are endless for this day trip choice and a camera is a must!
Driving to The Lakes is conveniently only two and a half hours southeasterly from San Francisco or four hours northerly of Los Angeles. The park’s amenities are top-notch. We found ourselves wondering if we could just stay there permanently! But that is what staying in a perfect park is all about, isn’t it?
