Want to find campgrounds?
There’s an app for that. Good Sam’s free iPhone application is coming soon. With it, you can search for North American RV parks and campgrounds directly from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

So here is the good news. We have been working hard on a brand new app for use on iPhones, iPads, and Android operating devices. We have been developing these at the same time so when it launches it will launch on all platforms. The bad news is that we at this time do not have a launch date. However it we are looking for Q1 release in 2013.

PS…. it’s been well over a year since you said an Android app was coming…??? Maybe you should hire some 18 to 19 year old computer geek… he or she will have an android version for your members in a week or two.

I won’t take a position on which system is best, but ran across this information on Android/OS vs IOS,
(http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/android-vs-ios-its-a-two-horse-race-and-the-lead-horse-is-in-trouble/17794)
I have to agree with Kurt about out dated data Rob.
But enough with the Android vs Apple bickering… the question was and is: When will Good Sam offer an Android GS Camping App?
Seems to me that serving 100% of GS Members should be the goal.
Best regards, Bob

This web app has been renamed to the Trailer Life Directory mobile app. Even though it’s under a different name than first reported, it still has all of the great features expected which of course includes the ability to search for North American RV parks and campgrounds directly from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
an Andriod app is also in the works so stay tuned!

Hey Rob, wake up and smell the coffee. 85% of all smartphones sold today are android. Not IOS (I own both). so it would behoove these folks to release an android version first, don’t ya think?

When is “coming soon”? How about a target release date?
Rich
I would love an app for WebOS systems!

When will you have the app for the druid phone?
Lynne Schlumpf
My husband works for a company that sells both. He brought home both for me to test. For all aspects, especially app market and battery power, IPhone won hands down. Just an opinion.

Rob, where are you getting these numbers for mobile web access? They look to be a year or more out of date, as IOS has been steadily loosing share to Android for the past year. In smart phone market share IOS is third, behind both Android and Blackberry.
Mobile web access numbers from March 2011
IOS-37.5 percent
Android-26.4 percent
Blackberry-22.2 percent
Numbers from itwire.com and comScore

Lynn,
Currently about 70-80% of the mobile web access is done off an Apple iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod) that would benefit from an Apple app, while only 20-30% of mobile web access is from an Android based device. I think GS was just developing an app for the most commonly used platform. Maybe an Android one is in the future at some point? Who knows.
I’m not sure about the numbers of how many of the iOS products vs. android products exist in the hands of customers, but clearly the iOS devices are used to browse the web significantly more.
Lynn
Will you be creating an Android version of the GS Camping app? Android is more popular than the Iphone.
