Saskatchewan chapters pitch in at regional parks
Volunteers play an important role at Canada’s regional parks, and Good Sam Club chapters are doing their part to make sure these provincial treasures are available for future generations. Four Saskatchewan chapters stand out for going above and beyond: Queen City Sams, Wheatland Sams, Parkland Sams and Sunseeker Sams. Read more
Last year, members of the Queen City Sams chapter not only cut and built 24 picnic tables at Dunnet Regional Park, they contributed $1,000 in materials to the project, with the help of a $500 match from Saskatchewan’s Good Sam Club organization.
The provincial Good Sam Club likewise matched the $500 raised by the Wheatland Sams chapter for the upkeep of camping facilities at the Nipawin and District Regional Park.
Members of the Parkland Sams got together to repair and paint park buildings at Whitesand Regional Park, in addition to trimming trees, chopping firewood and installing and painting posts along the driveways. The chapter also donated $700 to Whitesand, and the provincial organization chipped in another $500.
At Craik Regional Park, the Sunseeker Sams repaired picnic tables, bundled firewood and assisted with the children’s play area. At Eagle Creek Regional Park, members constructed a camp kitchen and contributed $2,250 to renovate the park’s washroom and shower facilities, with help from a $1,000 donation from Saskatchewan Good Sam.
