Good Sam Stands by You

ActionLineDelaware Good Sam members Don and Diane Atkinson were beginning to think their new travel trailer was a lemon after two trips to the factory didn’t fix their slide-out issue or resolve a number of other problems. That’s when the couple asked Good Sam Action Line to step in on their behalf:

We bought a new Forest River Wildcat travel trailer in 2011. After we took it out the first time, we had almost 25 problems including cabinet doors that were loose, undersides of cabinets coming apart, exposed nails in floors and water in an exterior light. Since we had trouble with the dealer at closing, we decided to call Forest River directly to find another dealer that could do the warranty work. Instead, they said that since the unit had that many issues they would pick it up and take it to the Iowa factory. After they returned the trailer, some of the repairs didn’t last long, and the slide-out was out of square (one side came out farther then the other). Another phone call was made to Forest River, and the trailer went back to Iowa. When we got it back, they said they made the repairs and that there was nothing wrong with the slide-out. Since then the slide-out has bent the cabinet door handles, and I have to push it over so it clears the handles and doors. We feel that this camper may be a lemon.
A few months after Action Line contacted Forest River’s warranty division on behalf of the Atkinsons, the couple sent the Good Sam Club the following note:

Per Forest River’s directions, we took our camper to Boat-N-RV Supercenter in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, on March 23 and got it back on May 21. All of the major repairs were fixed, and Forest River took care of all costs. We really want to thank the Good Sam Club. We would have been out thousands of dollars without your help and probably would have been discouraged to ever camp again. We will pay it forward and tell everyone we meet about the Good Sam Club and all it does for its members. Thanks, and God bless America!
