Good times and good deeds in Canada’s westernmost province

Living in a natural wonderland of mountains, rivers and forests, members of British Columbia’s Chilliwack Valley Sams make it their mission to give back for all the good fortune they’ve received. Like other civic-minded Good Sam chapters across the continent, the Chilliwack Valley Sams volunteer in their community and contribute to their favorite charities.

One of the chapter’s annual good deeds is taking part in the city of Chilliwack’s Spring Pitch-In cleanup campaign. This year, eight chapter members gathered on a rainy spring morning to do their part, picking up litter and debris on a stretch of provincial roadway. After a few hours’ labor, the members left with 10 stuffed trash bags and the warm glow of a job well done.

In addition to doing volunteer work, each year the chapter raises money for PADS, the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, a British Columbia nonprofit organization that trains dogs to help people with disabilities other than blindness. Last year, members also made a generous donation to an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Chartered in 1977, the Chilliwack Valley Sams chapter is one of 24 Good Sam groups throughout British Columbia that come together for RV fun and philanthropy. To find out more about Good Sam activities in Canada’s westernmost province, visit bcsams.ca.
