feather-falls-koa-regional-mapNestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills just 70 miles north of Sacramento off scenic Highway 70, this year-round campground is the first tribal-owned KOA in the country. The Concow-Maidu manage this family-friendly complex, which also includes a casino and lodge.

The Feather Falls KOA campground has 43 paved, level RV campsites with full hookups (30/50 amp) and room for slideouts. Pull-thru sites measure 29 x 55 ft. and back-in sites measure 29 x 50 ft. Each RV campsite has a patio, picnic table, free WiFi Internet and cable TV service. Trash pickup at your site is provided for your convenience.

You’ll enjoy on-site laundry facilities, a group meeting hall, rec room and gift shop in two beautiful round-house structures that reflect the native Concow-Maidu heritage. Private bathrooms with showers are located behind the general store, while another bathhouse with showers is next to the pool and spa area.

Firewood and LP gas can be bought at the general store, in addition to a variety of camping and grocery items. You’ll enjoy tasty fare at the casino buffet or Village Café restaurant, or you can grab a quick bite at the on-site Taco Bell/Pizza Hut.

Settle into a poolside deck chair to catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to finish. Challenge a neighbor to a friendly game of horseshoes, or watch the grandkids enjoy the playground.

For a bit more excitement head to the Feather Falls Casino, where you can try your luck at the table games, poker tables or slots. The casino also features two showrooms where you can catch a concert by a variety of talented musical groups playing everything from disco and blues to country and rock and roll. You can choose to walk along the wooded path to the casino, or have a free shuttle take you door to door.

Area Attractions: Take a quick 10-minute drive to explore the beautiful Feather River, where you can go kayaking, fishing, and strolling along the beach at Riverbend Park. A moderate 9 mile hike (round trip) takes you to the 410-ft. high Feather Falls, on a tributary of the Feather River.

Antique hunters will delight at the numerous shops in the Greater Oroville area. For boating and fishing, head to nearby Lake Oroville. Drive up Highway 70 to the quaint college town of Chico, where you can tour historic Bidwell Mansion, hike up to the swimming holes in Bidwell Park, or sample the full beer menu at the Sierra Nevada Brewery. Whatever your interests, the communities within Butte County have something to keep you entertained.
