Get ready to help Santa in his workshop! This year, Iberia Parish will travel down the bayou, all the way to the North Pole for Magic on Main: Destination North Pole featuring holiday events for the whole family during November and December.
November:
Find unique gifts for your loved ones at the Holiday Vendor & Craft Event (Nov. 10), Let it Sneaux Holiday Festival and Bazaar (Nov. 24) and Iberia Parish’s farmers markets. For dates, visit IberiaTravel.com. These great markets give you a fantastic opportunity to get your holiday shopping done early before the Christmas rush arrives.
Various Iberia Parish businesses will offer Shop Berry Frozen Deals throughout November and December to add to the great savings.
New Iberia’s Historic Main Street will play host to Envision da Berry’s “Window Wonderland” from the end of November through Dec. 31. Storefront windows will display festive holiday themed decor in the style of New York City department store windows like Bergdorf Goodman or Bloomingdale’s. Sounds of the Season (Nov. 25) will round out the first month of activities.
December:
Travel to the Victorian Era when you tour the Joseph Jefferson Home decorated for the holidays at Jefferson Island Rip Van Winkle Gardens (Dec. 1- Jan. 5). Beginning Dec. 3, Shadows-on-the-Teche will be celebrating in a similar fashion with “merry making” tours. The home will be decorated in 19th century holiday style and tours will focus on family celebrations of the time.
The Iberia Performing Arts League will perform its Christmas production “It’s A Wonderful Life,” (Dec. 6 – 16).
For the New Iberia Downtown Business Association’s Magic on Main Christmas Parade (Dec. 8), holiday goers can enjoy events throughout the day starting at 7 a.m., including the Teche Area Farmers Market, Food Truck Festival, crafts vendors, Christmas music and performances at Bouligny Plaza, children’s pajama contest, lighting of the community Christmas tree and the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce’s Very Berry Christmas Quest.
The newest way to travel is by sleigh, and on Dec. 14 – 16 the Southern Sleigh Ride will take riders through the New Iberia National Register Historic District with food and drinks available for purchase. Tickets are $25 per ticket and are available by presale only.
Santa Sightings:
With an abundance of Christmas parades happening around Iberia Parish, the kiddos will have ample opportunities to see the jolly man. Santa Claus makes his first sightings during the Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market at Bayou Carlin Cove (Dec. 1). On Dec. 8, the jolly man will also follow the magical elf trail to the lighted Delcambre Christmas Boat Parade followed by fireworks in the evening, and will guest star at the Delcambre Main Street Christmas Parade the next day (Dec. 9).
With all these exciting events, the holidays are a wonderful time to visit Iberia Parish, because a trip here will certainly warm up your winter. All events and dates are subject to change. Visit IberiaTravel.com for event details and updates.
