Oregon’s capital city of Salem offers enough activities and entertainment to keep a family busy for days, if not weeks.

Hee Hee Illahee RV Resort, a Good Sam park with a perfect 10/10*/10 rating, is a top home base for all your adventures. The downtown of Salem offers the Capitol, of course, and surrounding grounds. Plus there’s the old town with multiple restaurants, sidewalk cafes, shops large and small. Riverfront Park borders the Willamette River and along with great green space features a Children’s Museum and antique Carousel. The downtown area also boasts multiple museums and galleries – plus the Salem Saturday Market is one of the top Farmers’ and Artisan’s Markets in the State, covering more than a city block.

Oregon Activities

Salem sits in the midst of Oregon’s Willamette Valley – home to hundreds of vineyards and wineries, many with tasting rooms – and home to creameries for farm-crafted cheeses. Nearby, in McMinnville is the Evergreen Aviation Museum, home to the famed Spruce Goose and countless historic aircraft and spacecraft. A short drive to the east takes visitors to the Oregon Garden – 80 acres of botanical treasures complete with tours, café and gift shop. Nearby towns such as Albany, Woodburn and Aurora offer antique shopping, bulb farms, covered bridges and outlet malls.
