For the perfect place to RV with some history and beaches look no further than St. Augustine Florida City is the oldest continuously occupied city in the United Sates, and with that fact you are sure to brush up on your history. A perfect way to get a tour of the historic downtown district is on a Red Train tour. In the city you can visit the fabled fountain of youth. While it is not the actual mythical fountain it stands as a tribute to where Ponce de León landed in his quest to eternal youth. Also in St. Augustine are the original Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum and the old Spanish Quarter where it has set up a living history museum.
If you like the beach you can park your RV at the North Beach Camp Resort just five minutes away from downtown St. Augustine. At this campground you can see the sunrise on the Atlantic and the sun set on the Intercostals.

We visited St. Augustine 2 years ago and fell in love with the place. Anyone who visits there should take the student led tour of Flagler College. A fantastic place that Henry Flagler orginally built as a hotel and Louis Tiffany designed and made the stain glass windows and chandilers that are still there. It’s a private college with 2000 students and an amazingly low tuition because of the size of the foundation – something like under $16,000 which includes tuition and room and board!
Won’t get into the discussion about which place is the oldest settlement, BUT, Jim is correct if you include the native American settlements! However, I do seem to remember that the St. Augustinians laid claim to the oldest European settlement and maybe they used the phrase “continoues settlement”, but not sure!!
However, I would highly recommend people putting St. Augustine on their must visit list. Can’t wait to get back.

Both mistaken, Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico is the oldest continually inhabited, founded in the twelfth century and still actively populated today

Sorry, you have your facts wrong. Pensacola, was founded in 1559, six years before St. Augustine.

They are very pet friendly. We stopped at an outdoor restaurant, I asked fir a cup of water for our little dog. He brought out a dog bowl filled with water. Jim
