    June 16, 2010

We purchased our used motor home(17 years old)in December of 2009 with a winning bid on e-bay. We flew to San Antonio, Texas to drive her home–I named her Toni as she joined our family in San Antonio. The following is my journal entries of our journey home from San Antonio to Deposit.

Day 1: Jan 19, 2010–Flew to San Antonio, TX to pick up motorhome. Left Binghamton, NY @ 6:15 a.m. to Detroit–left Detroit @ 9:15 a.m. and arrived in San Antonio @ 11:45 .M.(Texas time). We were picked up at the airport by Lee–an employee of Ken’s whom we bought Toni from. Left the RV lot @ 2:00 pm. Went 5 miles on I/10. Shopped at WalMart for basic supplies and then stayed the nite at River Shade RV Park – 3995 S Hwy ByPass, Sequin, Texas. $37.00 for the nite with full hook-ups. Lot 72. Had pizza, beer and chips to celebrate our new “life style” !

Day 2: 1/20/10 – Left campsite bright and early — 4:30 a.m. , yawn, yawn……went to WalMart to get new windshield wipers. Drove thru Austin, Dallas etc on routes 20 then 30 then 40. Spent nite in rest area just west of Memphis in Arkansas. Good day….nice temps but cloudy and misty most of the day. Drove 691 miles since leaving where we picked “Toni” up.

Day 3: Good nite sleep. Travelled thru Memphis to Nashville. Major thunderstorms today and even tornado warnings. Mountains of  Tennessee….!!! Wow. More beautiful county of this good ‘ole USA.
Spending this nite in a Pilot truck stop just w. of Knoxville. Coach does have some leaks—put towels down and cups to catch drips!! Still an amazing trip.

Day 4: Headed thru the mountains of  Tenn. and VA today. Beautiful country. Ice on all the trees, shrubs etc……but not on the road–whew!! Stopped for the nite at Brian & Cheri’s in Carlisle, PA. Really nice visit with the Bruckners. Home tomorrow!! Sarge and Bear(our dogs) here we come….
    Day 5: Home @ 12:45 pm. Total miles travelled = 1901.5

We have since then taken a 3 week trip south to Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida which I also jounaled—but the above was our “first RV trip”.
