5 Destinations for a Romantic Camping Getaway

There are several annual occasions that call for a romantic getaway. Birthdays, anniversaries and, of course, Valentine’s Day are some of the occasions that come to mind. Still, there’s never really a bad time for a romantic camping getaway.

If you own an RV, you can enjoy the journey just as much as the destination. Depending on where you live in the U.S., we hope that at least one of these RV destinations for a romantic getaway is within reasonable driving distance!

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is a historic destination with plenty of attractions. From the picturesque plantations with trees covered in Spanish moss to the coastal beaches, there’s plenty to see and do in this romantic destination.

If you want to enjoy a day on the water, take your partner for a sailing trip up the wind-powered Schooner Pride. The Schooner Pride is an 84-foot-tall ship that glides through the water without the sounds (or smells) of a gas-powered engine. They offer several of tours, including sunset and moonlight sails.

Savannah, Georgia

Staying in the south, it’s hard to beat the traditional southern architecture and historic attractions in Savannah. The oldest city in Georgia offers plenty of options for romantic strolls through Chippewa Square and catching sunsets from lush shores of Tybee Island, a beach getaway located just east of the city.

If you’re looking to learn more about why Savannah has unofficially been labeled “America’s Most Haunted City,” you should look into Ghosts and Gravestones. Napa Valley, California

It’s nearly impossible to beat Napa Valley as a romantic destination for an RV getaway, especially if you’re interested in sampling some of the best wines on the planet. And the icing on the cake is Napa’s incredible climate and beautiful landscapes.

One of the best ways to get an overview of all that Napa Valley has to offer is to book a tasting excursion with Platypus Wine Tours. Tucson, Arizona

The landscape surrounding Tucson is representative of the extreme weather and climate that characterizes much of the American Southwest. One of the best romantic things to do in Tucson is to explore the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block. It’s also a great spot to grab a delicious brunch at Café a la C’art, which is set in a historic house on the museum grounds.

Knoxville, Tennessee

What’s possibly more romantic than a riverboat tour on the Tennessee River? That’s exactly what you’ll find in Knoxville, in addition to numerous festivals, gardens and theaters. And a visit to Knoxville is impossible without sampling some of the delicious Southern cuisine. Regardless of the activities you choose, love and romance are almost always in the air in Knoxville.

If you’re not sure where to start, the Knoxville Visitor Center is a great place to get more information on city attractions and add a couple souvenirs to your collection. But no matter what else you do during your stay, no romantic trip to Knoxville is complete without a riverboat tour on the Star of Knoxville. These tours are operated by the Tennessee Riverboat Company and there are a variety of cruises to choose from, including dinner cruises, lunch cruises and sightseeing tours. They also offer special cruises for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and other special occasions.

The best Good Sam RV park to call “home base” during your stay in Knoxville is Volunteer Park Family Campground. Nearby in Pigeon Forge, you should also check out Creekside RV Park and Pine Mountain RV Park by the Creek. These locations still offer great access to the city, but are also in good spots for fishing, rafting, biking, hiking and many other outdoor recreation activities in the Great Smoky Mountains!
