This video from RV Today and Bob Livingston introduces you to an in dash system that will revolutionize your road traveling. The in dash system, Pioneer’s AVIC-N1, includes a DVD/CD/MP3 player, XM radio and comes with a disc that includes map to turn it into a GPS. You can also install, at additional expense, a back-up camera that activates when you put your vehicle in reverse. The best part of the unit is that it can be voice activated if desired.
IMPORTANT: The item reviewed here is no longer available has been replaced with the Pioneer AVIC-Z3, but the good news is that it is less expensive than the original and also has a review monitor option as well as a nifty iPod integration accessory. This version is taller than a standard stereo on older vehicles so be sure to check the applicaiton guide for your particular video before you buy it.

There in one of these in the 2005 HR that we bought two years ago. The navigation system does not work. I called Pioneer and was told that I would need to send it to them and that they would fix it for $200. To us its just an expenxive XM radio.

You would do yourself a big favor in the GPS area if you bought a GARMIN GPS. They work much better than the Pioneer systems do and for a lot less money with more features.

This is a joke. First off that unit was around at least 5 years ago and at that time the price was around $800, which is what I paid for it at the time. You can probably find them for sale around $500 but can get a brand new up to the date pioneer for $800 so why would you want to. How about doing articles on current technology.

I love toys but $2000?
Wow! My wife’s a great navigator and we have a $100 GPS as a backup. We listen to talk radio when we can get it and occassionally a CD, but we really enjoy just relaxing and observing the countryside while driving. (We usually travel local and state roads.)
I’ll add this toy to my list of lottery spendings, when that day comes.
