Rattle SnakeWhen I was a child I was always planning on going way out west to Texas. I was raised in California, but in my mind out west was Texas. When I thought of Texas I thought of rattle snakes, cowboys, long horned cattle, the Alamo and the Gulf of Mexico. Texas is as diverse as it is large. Whether you are looking for museums, wide open spaces or amusement parks, Texas has them and hospitable Texas campgrounds are always close by.

Texas has over 300 miles of Gulf Coast. This area has numerous fine beaches, small towns and large cities for you to visit as you RV along the coast.

My parents lived in Corpus Christi, Texas when they met and got married. And, according to my mother everything really is bigger in Texas. I want to see that for myself. I have heard the stories and I can’t help but think that it is the Dolphins swimmingstories that are bigger in Texas not the rabbits.
Corpus Christi is a major deep water sea port in the Gulf of Mexico. It is also home to the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay. Corpus Christi is a beautiful place to pull into a Texas campground and plan to stay a while. The city offers visitors arts and museums, fine dinning and entertainment, and a wonderful beach. My parents have told me many times how wonderful swimming in the gulf was. I want to swim with the dolphins just like they did.

Not far from Corpus Christi is the famous King Ranch. This is a working cattle and horse ranch where the cowboys are still real cowboys! Now we are talking about the “Out West to Texas” I dreamt about as a child. They offer different types of tours that vary in length and price. For more information about the King Ranch and what it has to offer consult the King Ranch website.

The length of the Texas Gulf coast is one beautiful beach after another. Texas has some of the best beaches in the country. And all along the coast there are hospitable Texas campgrounds.

I think that my girls and I will love a trip Out West to Texas!

I am glad to find this website and your blog! I love Texas, love Texas camping. I spent much of my childhood on the Texas coast, and I would say Port Aransas is my favorite place in the world. I love watching the huge ships move in and out through the Port A ship channel. Hope you get to make the trip! I also want to visit Big Bend, as the previous person mentioned. I hear it’s beautiful, and worth the drive. Have a great day!

I totally agree with you! I’m originally from Missouri and have wanted to come to Texas for several years now. Me and my family of seven have been traveling full-time for about two and a half years, but not until now did we finally come to Texas. And it’s been GREAT!
I’ve found that some things really are bigger in Texas. For example: an acorn that was close to the size of a ping pong ball!
We’re hoping to get down to Big Bend National Park and The Alamo very soon. Texas is definitely on my list of places I’d like to live now!
