Okay, so if you live in the South or Southwest or even the West, you have been able to camp through the winter. Those of us here in the North….I am in Northern Illinois….have been waiting for Spring to arrive. Its not too warm yet, but it is above freezing on a daily basis. Cabin fever is about to break!
Today, I will be de-winterizing my new Rockwood trailer and get it all ready for our trip this Thursday to Kentucky to camp at my parents place. They have a 14 acre farmette with a pond and I am looking forward to the view out my rear lounge windows to their pond.
I am an amateur military historian and so on that theme, this year, I am planning on buying a model tank kit with some paint and glue. My camping plans for this year will include some leisure time of me, under the awning, working on this model. If I don’t finish it during the first trip….thats okay….I will just work on it during the next one! I enjoy the idea of having that type of leisure and relaxation.
As well as the model building, I think I will be bringing my guitar too. I used to play a bit, but was never proficient. I told my wife that I thought it would be fun to bring it and practice during some of my leisure time. She surprised me with a gift of a book of guitar chords. That will be fun too…..but maybe not for others…so don’t worry…if you are next to us, I will keep it quiet!
I am a bit concerned about the price of gasoline (I am trying to avoid giving my political opinions on this subject!). I don’t want it to stop us from going camping and I don’t intend on it doing that. If, however, it gets really high, I might look into a seasonal site.
So, how are your Spring camping plans going? What things are you planning on doing in preparation and what leisure things will you be doing this year?
Happy camping and see you next Sunday!

Glad to hear that Spring has sprung for our northern / eastern fellow RV’rs.
Out here in the Las Vegas, NV area we have camped all winter at various sites and spent last weekend in beautiful Lakeside Resort in Pahrump, NV. If you are in the area, this is one of the best RV parks and it accepts Camp club and Passport America discounts. Oh, by the way, the daytime temperature was over 100 degrees but cooled off to the high 70’s at night. Pool felt great and we all had a great visit. We, LaMesa Good Sammers of Las Vegas, held our annual elections and steak feed Saturday afternoon. Some went fishing (catch and release) in the private lake (no license needed).
Have a great summer and “keep cool”.

We have a leak across the rear end of our Motor Home. We have had it dworked on 3 times in Small Wods RV in Jackson, tn. So far it is still not fixed. Does anyone know what we could do to find where this leak is getting inside our motorhome. It is leaking in the rear wardrobe. There are no stains on the ceiling.
This is a great web site.

May the shamrocks grow where ever you go! The best of St. Patrick’s day to ya.
And in S.E. Ohio it’s 48 and to hit the high 60’s tomorrow. Picking up our 30′
Jayco Eagle on Fri. . With gas the way it is we will be looking to workcameing
to get by this year. With my math, working 20 -25 hr. a week for a camp site that would run me $140.00 a week at $20.00 a night, If gas is $3.25 a gal. and I get 10 mi. per gal I get 43 gals of gas X 10 I can go 430 mi. so I need to work 2 weeks to get down south to where I would like to be. So working anything over 4 wk’s pays for my gas and camp free.NOW if my math is not right PLEASSE don’t tell me,
I want to think i’m coming out ahead.
WOW with all this thinking I need a green beer !

Oh, I love reading these! It hit the 40’s for two days last week in our area of Wisconsin, (between Milwaukee and Green Bay). I was able to actually walk my outside route instead of doing the treadmill. This weekend was cold again. Our first outing will be end of April when our son graduates basic training in Fort Sill, OK. Gosh, I get butterflies when I think of getting into the RV and on the move! We cannot wait! I’ve already told my boss to be prepared for a phone call, I just may not be back! Our hope is that God willing, my husband’s occupation will take us to Texas where we can full time. I sooooo understand the comment about being tired of white!

I here ya on that northern “get spring a-poppin’!” We’re Michiganders and just bought a screen room today to get us in the mood for “skeeters” and bees in the open air. We usually camp in Michigan but love to venture south also. Looks like we’ll be staying around the great lakes this summer season due to the gas prices…$4.33 today at the pump for deisel…and it’s not even spring yet!! We broke records on snow this winter and are pretty tired of white. Have a great camping season everyone!

Yes here in the South, MS, spring has sprung and we now have done 2 weekend camp outs at the lake park. Sure was beatitful this weekend for enjoying the coming of spring. Due to fuel cost we are doing the short trips from home for our weekend adventures. Looks like due to the continued rise in diesel cost we will have to adapt to shorter trips for the most part.

Spring is coming and we spent the day cleaning and throwing away stuff in the motor home. The bed is made and we have a new air bed that we can’t wait to try out. We are ready except for food and clothes. It is a great feeling. Spring break is next week and we are trying to decide where in Ohio it will be the warmest. I am ready to do nothing for a couple of days!!!!! About 2 years ago we decided to try and save on the gas mileage. Now it is all about getting the best MPG we can. We now slow down a bit. People are still flying past us and we are going the speed limit or a little below. We still get to our campsite about the same time everyone else gets there. Happy camping David.

For the most part we are seasonal campers, I started when I was young with my parents and and for the past 5 years I have had my own seasonal site, typically we take two trips away from our seasonal site a year.
Yesterday we went up to our seasonal site to check things out. Next Friday we are moving to a different site in the campground. One that is easier to get on and off. Our campground is primarily for seasonal sites so the intent for the majority of the sites is the “set it and forget it” type of thing.
We are looking forward to the new site it’s flat compared to being on a hill. The hill is one of the major reasons we are moving to a new site. When pulling out we cannot simply pull out, we have to pull straight out into a field and then back down to the road being sure not to go back down the hill to our site. The “lip” where the hill and road meet is too steep to simply pull out in the traditional sense. We tried it once..once…and the trailer was up on two wheels..not the best feeling in the world. Coming back from a trip is a challenge as well..if it rained while away or raining when we come back..forget it…the trailer just slides down the hill and is difficult to get it where you want. Not to mention the deck that we have be dead on with each time.
So this camping season we are looking forward to our new seasonal site where all the above will no longer be an issue!
