I am always on the lookout for new electrical options when we RV camp. As I’ve written previously, our 400W power inverter is one of the most useful devices we own. So I’ve decided to pick up a second unit – the Wagan EL2003-5 400W Continuous Power Inverter (http://goo.gl/RdFyym)
Why did I opt for the Wagan unit? In addition to the two grounded AC outlets, the Wagan inverter has a couple of features that appeal to me.
First, it has two 5V 2.1Amp USB ports for charging phones and tablets. These are the more robust ports that kick out the power you need to charge, for example, an iPad.
Second, the Wagan has an ON/OFF switch, which is a minor but significant convenience. Many inverters these days do not include an ON/OFF switch.
The Wagan promises 400 Watts of continuous power and 1000 Watts of peak surge power, which should easily power our HDTV when we need it. More commonly, we’ll use the Wagan to juice laptops, phones, and tablets.
I’ll report back once I’ve spent a little time with the device.
