A typical call at Hensley Mfg. goes something like this:
“I’ve never had any problems towing. Been doing it for twenty years. But this weekend, I’m coming home with my family, and a strong gust of wind hits me just as a semi-truck is passing by. I thought I was gonna lose it for sure. We got home and my wife told me to sell the trailer.”
While trailer sway is common, the violent fishtailing that often results in accidents may only happen to you once in a lifetime. But one time is too many. And most RVers will experience this type of trailer sway, even with a sway control hitch. That’s why a sway elimination hitch, like the Hensley Arrow or Cub, may be the best investment you ever make for your trailer. The Hensley Arrow or Cub don’t dampen sway like a typical sway control hitch. They actually block out any possibility of trailer sway. How?
Through the use of a “converging linkage system.” Okay, in English, that means the geometry of the linkage in the Arrow actually project the trailer’s pivot point 52″ forward and over the rear axle of the vehicle, giving a travel trailer every advantage that is normally found only in a 5th wheel. But without the 5th wheel and heavy truck cost.
For those of you who need more explanation, here you go. The linkage system is shaped like a trapezoid. Picture four bars hooked together with pins, free to rotate. With me? Okay, now start fixing points. In the case of the Arrow, fix the two points at the “wide end” of the trapezoid and the hitch ball. By doing this, the trailer is now locked out. It can’t pivot on its own. Only the tow vehicle can turn at the pivot point.
Essentially, from the trailer’s point of view, your rig is a solid unit, like a motor home. The tow vehicle, however, is free to turn. In fact, you’ll get a much better turning radius with the Arrow or Cub than with a traditional hitch.
Other sway control devices attempt to dampen sway through the use of friction. The problem here is that the tow vehicle has to overcome the same friction to regain control or make a turn. Only the Arrow uses a completely friction-free system, making it the safest, most reliable sway elimination device on the market.
Until the Arrow came along, the best way to control sway was to upgrade to a more costly 5th-wheel trailer or buy a heavier tow vehicle, not an attractive option with today’s gas prices.
The Arrow is easy to install and comes with a 60-day money back guarantee and a lifetime warranty. With over ten-thousand customers and one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the industry, you’ve really got nothing to lose by giving the Arrow a try.

Fritz,
Being a junk dealer, (one who deals in junk) I will offer you $200 for the junk in the corner of your garage-you pay shipping! Let me know-scrap metal is up right now.

Hey Fritz. I too have complained numerous times on this RV Blog, regarding supposed non advertiser articles that tout the benefits of this over rated and way overpriced hitch. I agree that if most Hensley owners had tried the EQUAL-I-ZER Hitch first, they would be really sorry that they had paid triple the price for the Hensley. Yes they do work, yes they are surely overpriced and yes, maintenance and adjustments are a nightmare.

I have had TWO hensley’s fail. Got no help from Hensley unless I paid for it.
I now have an EQUALIZER hitch for about $500 and my $3500 hensley sits in a corner of my garage.
I liked this forum better when advertisers didn’t write the articles

I had that “once in a life-time experience” when someone cut me off and I got cramps in my eyeballs going from one mirror to the other making sure I had room on the highway for all the sway that my trailer had. I’ll never use a conventional hitch again.

Jim Hensley is one smart cookie for coming up with this idea. My ProPride hitch works exactly the same way. Once someone tows with this style of sway eliminating hitch they will never tow with a regular hitch again. My ProPride is the best investment I have ever made in my RV.
