Good Sam SamAlertForest River is recalling certain model year 2011 Surveyor travel trailers, Crusader fifthwheel trailers, Rance aluminum cargo trailers, and Work and Play toy hauler trailers equipped with 15″ x 6″ white spoke- or modular-design steel wheels with a six-hole bolt pattern. Some of the wheels may have inadequate weld penetration between the outer ring and the center plate due to improper plate alignment.

    Consequence:
There could be a potential wheel failure and wheel loss increasing the risk of a crash or personal injury.

    Remedy:
Dealers will inspect the wheels on the suspect vehicles and repair the trailers free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during January 2011. Owners may contact Forest River at 574-389-4600.

    Affected Vehicles:

    • 2011 Forest River / Crusader
    • 2011 Forest River / Rance
    • 2011 Forest River / Surveyor
    • 2011 Forest River / Work and Play

    Reminder:
Register your RV and household vehicles with Sam Alert
and be notified via e-mail if there is a notice posted by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) that matches your vehicle type(s). SamAlert is included as part of your membership with Good Sam Club.

Lippert axle on a Forest River Wolf Pup is eating up my tires. This is a small single torsion axle set up. Any thoughts anybody?

I bought a Forest River Stealth in November of 2010. I have had so many problems with the Unit and Dealer installed options that am getting to get out of this “RV Life Style”. I have invested so much money into this and now Forest River will not honor the Warrenty. I don’t know what to do anymore. The Dealer got electricity for the rear electric jacks by scotch-locking into the fuel pump. Burnt out the jack motor and the fuel pump is leaking. This has all been documented by another Forest River dealer and Jim Treadwell (FR Service Mgr-Corporate) refuses to do anything. Please help if you can.

OH yea, I forgot, Lippert was great. After doing my homework i found that they are the ones that make the Landing gear parts now. Spoke with an engineer and he emailed me blow-up prints of the landgear components and told me where to look for replacements. Go to Lippertcomponents.com for parts.

I have a 2004 Cardinal 29RK; worst trailer I have ever had. i think i am up to 3 pages of stuff that I have either repaired or needs repairing. Called FR when my landing gear broke, gave them the VIN #’s and they couldn’t even tell me who made it. I am retired from Diamler/Freightliner and i can tell U for sure that you can go back a lot further than 7 years and get any part that needs replacing. the Portland dealer is no better; they lied to me about the original tires being under a recall; had to get ahold of the tire mfg. to find out on my own. Had a Carriage Cameo before and had far less trouble with it. Can’t even carry fresh water cause they mounted the tank wrong and instead of sitting nestled in the angle iron, it is sitting on top of it. Sure wish the Germans made a nice affordable 5vr..

2009 Cedar Creek 36RD5S Leippert sealed bearing system axles(same as Dexter NEV’R LUBE). The snap ring failed causing the break to be applied and burning it out. Replacement bearings willnot or cannot be supplied by Lieppert. Instead Lieppert sent me new axles at no charge. The new axles appear good quality, unlike the previous ones. I believe SBS and NEV”R LUBE axles are not safe in a tandem or tridem axle combination. Please pass my comments on to the appropriate authorities.
