Welcome all you RVers to the brand new, exciting, RV.net Blog!!!  We are excited about the Blog and looking forward to sharing experience, and knowledge with other RVers here.

    Me and my buddy Jim

From the list of categories it appears there is something for everyone.  This should be an excellent forum to exchange ideas about various aspects of RVing, as well as a learning experience for us all.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience as well, and hope to learn from all of you.  Initially, I am going to take an educational approach to my section of the blog as I have noticed on the RV.net forum, many of the threads attempt to explore the subject of electricity through misconceptions and half truths.  A lot of this is due to misunderstandings about the language and vocabulary of electricity, as well as a lack of understanding about the fundamentals of electrical power distribution and use.

For these reasons we will spend a lot of time discussing a common vocabulary and then working to understand how to apply that vocabulary to everyday problems we encounter in our RVs.  We will discuss words and phrases used in discussing electrical systems, some of the math that is absolutely necessary in order to understand how electricity works, how to select, buy and use electrical meters including multimeters and clamp-on meters for measuring alternating and direct current and voltage.

Eventually we will talk about RV specific devices and how they work.  These new skills and this new knowledge will enable us to perform many repairs on our RV, thus saving time and money, as well as developing confidence in our ability to do these repairs and modifications.

During all of this, I intend to share with you my best effort at explaining electrical phenomena.  However, I also recognize there are a lot of you out there that know a lot more about electricity than I do.  For this reason I welcome comments and discussion about any of the topics posted here.  We do however; insist that all participants respect the thoughts and opinions of others.  We will try to have lively and entertaining discussions as long as we stick to the subject and enhance each others knowledge of the subject.

Thank you all in advance for your help and participation. Let’s all enjoy, and learn together.  This is going to be fun!!!
