For snowbirds, escaping the dark and cold winters is a seasonal ritual. Snowbirds seek out warm winter days where they can trade in their winter boots for flip flops and don’t have to worry about shoveling snow off their front porch. However, with the 2020 snowbird season approaching, many seasoned RVers are taking extra precautions while traveling due to COVID-19. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a successful snowbird season.

Verde Ranch RV Resort, rated the No. 1 luxury park in Arizona by Outdoorsy, is ready to welcome back snowbirds for the season. In order to keep guests and staff safe, extra precautions have been implemented. We’ve also put together four tips that ensure a successful snowbird season for all those traveling.

    Tip 1: Travel safety tips

If snowbirds are traveling to their destination by car — As travelers start to head West by RV, snowbirds are highly-encouraged to plan their route ahead of time. Be sure to check for any road closures and be aware of every state’s COVID-19 travel restrictions.

RVers are also encouraged to plan their rest and overnight stops more strategically, as many businesses have closed. Restricting the number of stops taken will also limit the amount of people who one may come in contact with during travel.

If snowbirds are traveling to their destination by plane — Flying to the resort is quite common for travelers who store and leave their RV at their destination. Before flying, make sure to bring an adequate supply of sanitation wipes, hand sanitizer, face masks, face shields, a clean blanket and pillow and water bottles for hydration. Expert tip: bring a change of clothes, so you can get into clean attire after deboarding the plane and leaving the airport.

Tip 2: Conduct an RV maintenance check

Before hitting the road, the RV may need some fine-tuning and maintenance. Travelers should make sure to check the tires, oil levels, gas appliances, furniture, headlights and brake lights.

If the RV has been out of a commission for a longer period of time, it is recommended that snowbirds take the motorhome out for a 50-mile drive prior to departure to ensure it’s running efficiently.

Tip 3: Book a resort that fits the snowbird lifestyle

For first-time snowbirds, finding a new home base can be daunting and challenging. Lucky for them, Verde Ranch RV Resort is a snowbird-friendly resort that offers guests a variety of options when it comes to sites. The resort offers the following: pull-through, back-in and covered sites with numerous location options. It’s big-rig friendly and rates are inclusive, without additional fees for electric, wifi or cable. The resort also offers accommodating length-of-stay requirements that fit the needs of seasonal travelers. Seasonal sites can be reserved with only a $200 deposit. (As always, call ahead or book online to make sure site selections are available.)

Additionally, guests have access to award-winning, casually luxurious amenities, an endless amount of outdoor adventures and nearby getaway options like Sedona, Phoenix and Flagstaff. You’ll never get bored at a single location, as there are plenty of adventurous (or relaxing) outdoor activities to keep you busy all season.

Plus, if family and friends want to come and visit, Verde Ranch RV Resort offers fully-furnished and appointed cottages for nightly, weekly and monthly stays.

Tip 4: Think like a local and plan ahead

Plan ahead! Snowbirds have plenty of time to explore Arizona, but planning ahead ensures everything is crossed off the bucket list. Not sure what to do? Visit the resort’s latest blog post for a list of excursions to embark on.

Aside from the obvious perks of warmer temperatures, snowbird season introduces RVers to new friends and experiences that many can’t get at home. Verde Ranch RV Resort is the perfect place to escape the cold winters and embrace a warmer lifestyle amongst new, lifelong friends.
