spring trip — Motorhome driving along a coastal road.

You’re not the only one wondering where to go this year for a spring trip. If the idea of heading to a popular tourist destination just doesn’t have the same draw it once did, you’re not alone.

This year, prioritize crisp midwestern air, salty sea breezes or the quiet solitude of the desert. Though we’ve been in seclusion for a while, there’s something about changing up your surroundings that makes the everyday feel different. You set your phone down, you take longer walks with the dog, you open your eyes to a curious new setting that ignites creativity.

Whether you’re a family searching for a new vacation destination, a couple looking for a quiet getaway, or a solo traveler seeking out new food, culture, and recreation to explore, these three sunny campgrounds offer a little bit of everything. Say hello to your next spring getaway.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Who’s it For?

Families looking for endless entertainment that every age can enjoy.

    What’s the Weather in Spring?

Ohio begins to warm up into the 60s during April, and it gets into the 70s in May. In the evenings you’ll need a puffy jacket, but you’ll be more than comfortable cozied up by the fire.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Close to Columbus but just out of the way enough to stay away from the fray, Cross Creek is a highly rated central Ohio campground.

Poised to entertain families, the campground provides a long list of onsite recreation, like:

    • Basketball
    • Volleyball
    • Tennis
    • A jump pad
    • An outdoor pool
    • Shuffleboard
    • Corn hole
    • A playground
    • Clubhouse events like scavenger hunts, puzzle nights, and karaoke.

There’s a lot to do at the campground, but it’d be a shame not to explore Central Ohio while you’re here. Take off on a hike directly from your site, or embark overwater the Alum Creek Lake at the Marina — mere steps from the campground.

A family campground in more ways than one, consider making Cross Creek your home base for college visits. Inspire your high school student with campus visits to nearby Ohio State University, Ohio Wesleyan University, and Otterbein University.

    Rain Spirit RV Resort

    Who’s it For?

Adventure seekers and history lovers, looking to explore the wilds of the desert and the wonder of nearby Sedona.

    What’s the Weather in Spring?

As a year-round destination for snowbirds, you’ll find the Arizona desert a pleasant temperature in Spring. Bring a jacket for cold desert nights.

The majesty of Sedona’s red rocks is something everyone has to see to believe for a spring trip. A base camp in the Verde Valley at Rain Spirit RV Resort proves an ideal spot to explore the best of the Southwestern desert. Roll out the ATV or mountain bike for dusty adventuring in Sycamore Canyon. Once back at camp, watch the sunlight up the rocks in vibrant shades of red and orange, or enjoy the view from the pool or hot tub — desert luxury.

It might be the desert but that doesn’t mean there isn’t water to be found. The Verde River welcomes water recreation, like rafting, kayaking, fishing and swimming.

The southwest is rich in history. Those interested in early cliff-dwellings, pueblos and first peoples structures will find no shortage of preserved and protected land to explore, such as Tuzigoot National Monument or  Montezuma Castle National Monument.

    Rancho Los Coches

    Who’s it For?

Travelers eager to explore the arts, culture and attractions of San Diego, without the stress of staying in the city.

    What’s the Weather in Spring?

There’s never a bad time for visiting San Diego, but springtime is when the weather warms into the upper 60s and drops in the 50s at night. Warm enough in the day to go sleeveless, but chilly enough in the evening to spark up a fire for warmth. It’s great place for a spring trip.

    Rancho Los Cochos RV Park

Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, casinos, the USS Midway Museum: San Diego’s attractions go on and on. The southernmost city in California, San Diego is the epicenter of the laid-back beach culture SoCal is known for. There’s plenty to do, but there’s also plenty NOT to do for a spring trip, and that’s kind of the point.

A site at Rancho Los Coches RV Park situates travelers for an easy commute to all the area has to offer. When not exploring greater San Diego, enjoy the campgrounds onsite amenities like a heated pool, spa, ping pong tables, frisbee golf, chapel and a fitness center.

Though right off the interstate, the park feels anything but urban. The Los Coches Creek runs through the park, offering a tranquil off-leash walk with a pet. You can’t miss the windmill house on your walk, a historical landmark built in 1925. History is entrenched in this park and families and individuals will find curiosity in the storied history that exists right under your feet.
