When was the last time you spied something unique, interesting and marvelous all at the same time while traveling down the highway? Recently, such was the case for us on Route 198 just south of Lemon Cove, California, en route to Sequoia National Park. Here we spied an actual “Tiny House” on wheels parked in front of a Good Sam RV Park called “Lemon Cove Village”.

The RV Park is nestled into a corner of the citrus tree-lined valley surrounding the tiny town of Lemon Cove. Here, this brand new home on wheels awaits placement within an adjacent section of the RV Park that is dedicated to becoming a Tiny Home Village. Its residents will enjoy all the amenities of the RV Park along with ultimately their own community garden. This speaks to a movement by some in society toward living small in what is called a “Tiny House,” and there is even a publication named Tiny House Magazine for aficionados of this lifestyle.

Lemon Cove Village also offers the opportunity for people interested in acquiring one of these dwellings to live in the RV Park in their RV while watching the onsite construction of their additional home within the new community. Each home has the ability to be as unique as their owner desires from a variety of plans available. Of course, one of the premises of the Tiny Home is the concept of mobility and each home is on wheels, just like our RV.

For those of us who spend the better part of our year traveling in an RV, the benefits of living small are lessons we’ve already learned. The RV lifestyle gives us all the comforts of home wrapped up in a very small footprint upon the earth. We’ve learned to live with less stuff surrounding us and to enjoy the freedom of changing our view from the front door as often as we desire in the process. With the Tiny Home Movement, maybe others will be following us down the road creating yet another concept of the mobile life and a new style of RV park living.

    Reporting from along the road,

    Chris
