The Remington Water Tower was built in 1879.

Mid-way between Chicago and Indianapolis, Remington is a quaint small town just two miles west of I-65.

Planning a visit? Stay at Caboose Lake Campground.

Founded in 1860, Remington was a small farming community known as Carpenter Station or Carpenter, after Carpenter’s Creek. The name was later changed to Remington, perhaps the name of a local store owner. A railway depot was constructed the previous year and included a small building with two rooms and a platform 100 feet long.

remington 100_0062Remington boasts many homes and landmarks of historic note with varied types of architecture. The Remington Water Tower was built in 1879. The rare tower and wood tank structure is an original example of 19th century public water utility structure, construction methods, and technology. The tower has limestone foundation, is 104 feet tall and about 20 feet in diameter with two-foot brick walls. Remington Tower Days are held annually the second weekend in June (June 12-13, 2015).
