An SUV that can get 32 mpg? Yep, the new Saturn Vue Hybrid can. Hybrid technology is advancing rapidly and with each new vehicle released they only get more efficient.

If you’re looking for a dinghy vehicle that can get you, 4 passengers, and your stuff where you want to go, this is your vehicle. All 2008 Saturn VUE models can be dinghy towed from the front with all four wheels on the ground. Saturn is known for its tow friendly vehicles already so their designers knew what to consider when creating this next generation.

And if you have a towable, you CAN pull a pop-up camper, have a place to carry all of your gear, AND get decent gas mileage. The Vue Hybrid pulls a maximum trailer weight of 1,500 lbs

I had the opportunity to test the new Vue and see how well it performed.

In stop and go traffic we got 29.1 mpg in our road test. That’s impressive for an SUV period. The Vue boasts 32 mpg on the highway and owners are regularly beating that in their daily driving experience.

The Vue comes with some slick bells and whistles to round out the package; like an Onstar system, and an in-dash GPS. You can watch how your gas mileage is doing on the dash as well and can adjust your driving style accordingly to increase performance

The Vue drives like a car but has the high visibility of an SUV. In a world of cross-overs the Vue is a more a utility vehicle than car for sure. They haven’t introduced an All Wheel Drive version yet, and there aren’t plans for the near future. If you’re test driving SUVs that will be towed, give the Hybrid version of the 2008 Saturn Vue a whirl.

Before you run out and buy that hybrid, check with the manufacturer of your dinghy auxiliary braking system to see if the system will work with your new hybrid….many don’t work.

Saturn does make great tow vehicles. And hybrids are slowly becoming a neccesity to keep driving at these gas prices!
