Wow! I can’t believe how busy I have been lately! My day job is always as exciting as usual. I am a professional ‘Computer Geek’ and so things are always moving and shaking there! At home, I am trying to finish a bathroom remodel. We are also in the middle of a major Spring cleaning of our entire house. Next weekend my son will be graduating from high school. Also, next week, we will be attending a High School awards night and visiting his college of choice to get him signed up for the fall. I also run a DJ Service on the side and will be doing a couple gigs. During the Memorial Day weekend, it looks like I might be working security at a local hotel where they will be having bands Friday through Monday. (I am a second degree Black Belt and was asked if I might be available). Oh and I need to open the pool soon.
Of course, we are also planning our vacation. We will be going to Door County Wisconsin and stay at the Door County Camping Retreat campground in Egg Harbor in June with some friends. In addition to the camping trip, my wife and I are planning on going to Mackinac Island in Michigan two days after we get back from camping to celebrate our 25th anniversary.
Whew! that is a lot of stuff. I didn’t realize until I started writing! The great thing though is I am looking forward to the vacation and can’t wait to relax.
As you can probably imagine, I don’t do a lot of relaxing and so this will be special. My mother worries for my health and I’m sure when she reads this, she will get even more worried. Don’t worry Mom….I will relax soon…I promise!
There is a lot going on in the forums lately. A lot of entries reflecting the current state of the economy and gas prices. There was one thread that I feel is of interest. Of course, I know that there are some scum bags out there that will steal copper but I guess in some areas it is becoming more prevalent. Some campgrounds have been targeted by these bums where peoples power cables have been stolen right off multiple rigs. Read this thread and beware and be aware of your surroundings and activities that happen near you and you camping neighbors.
How about those gas prices! Of course, like most people, I am very irritated by the prices. I don’t mind businesses making a profit….thats why people go into business. I do have a problem with companies that have the corner on the market raking us over the coals. I have decided to do something about it. I don’t know if I will get this done, but I am looking into building a vehicle. Either an EV (Electric Vehicle) or some other type of extremely fuel efficient vehicle for my daily commute. There is a very cool site to visit where you can look at some alternatives if you are into building things. Check this site out and see what you think of some of what this guy has come up with. His name is R.Q. Riley and he is well known for coming up with alternative vehicles that have been published in Popular Mechanics and some have shown up in movies like Total Recall. I drive 31 miles one way so that’s 62 miles per day. I talked to my boss and it looks like I am in a position to possibly do some sort of telecommuting one or two days per week. That will help! Of course, I don’t drive the Excursion on a daily basis….that is reserved now for the Travel Trailer and some short distance runs.
So, I will be moving the Travel Trailer into the driveway so I can give it a much needed bath and start getting it ready for our trip in June. I also have a couple mods to take care of as well and I am chomping at the bit to get going on those.
How have the gas prices effected you? How are your plans for your camping trip/s? Please share!
See you next Sunday and Happy Camping!

As someone else said ” Our oil resources are located in Ca, Nebraska, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and offshore in the Carolinas…but the dipsticks are located in Washington D.C!”

I feel your pain Harold! We are to leave for Ca. in a month or so. We live in Az. the cheapest state right now for the #golden gallon of gas.” I have been filling up the motorhome with gas cans while it is cheap (ha ha!!!) Every trip to town we fill up 3 cans and every trip is about 10 cents a gallon more. Still at $3.59 but with this weekend coming up, who knows! I need about 20 more gals to top off the “Beast” but that will get me to Ca. where I will shed a tear or two when I fill up and come back home. Good luck everyone!! Keep the shiney side up, and the dirty side down. Dan

You ask how have the gas prices effected me?
Well, we’re full-timers, and I consider a full-timer lives on the road.
My plans are to leave southern Michigan next week heading for the great northwest. We’re on our way back to Alaska for our third trip in our motor home.
If I hold off until the fuel prices go down, what’a y’all think, maybe next year, the year after that, or maybe never. I’don’t like the prices, but what can ya do, ya can’t hole somewhere and wait it out, cause I don’t think there ever goin’a be like they use to be.
Check out my travels at “The Howells Travels”
