The holiday season is upon us and with the holidays comes lots of fun holiday parties in the RV, featuring tons of yummy food, treats, and exciting games! To host a holiday party that is both spectacular and successful, you need a few necessary ingredients.
To start, you need:
- a warm and cozy location (your RV),
- some yummy eats,
- and maybe a game or two.
Set the scene in your RV. You are going to want to decorate accordingly to achieve the right ambiance (think lights, music, and candles). This touches on three out of the five senses.
Yummy eats can come in many forms, from baked goods to store-bought items, or consider having a potluck-style party, where each guest brings something yummy to share. There are scrumptious finger foods – think pigs in a blanket or yummy meatballs – as well as delicious holiday drinks: eggnog and rum, or hot spiced apple cider.
For one of the games, you can hold a gift exchange with an fun edge to it, such as a White Elephant gift exchange. This really is a simple way for your guests to bring either something store-bought or gently used from home, wrap it up, and then put it in the pot.
How to Play:
- You number off your guests, starting with the first person who chooses a gift from the pot, opens it, and shows the rest of the guests what it is.
- Then each guest after that takes their turn and has the option of “stealing” a gift from someone else or plucking a new one from the pot to open.
- The two rules that apply are that once a gift has switched hands 3 times (been “stolen” 3 times), it is then frozen with the 3rd owner and cannot be “stolen” again. Also, the person who opened their gift first (the #1 person) gets to do once last “steal” at the end, if they so choose.
We do a White Elephant Gift Exchange at least once every Holiday season and it is always a HUGE hit! There are always the funny gifts that make everyone laugh out loud and the favored gifts, which everyone wants, that inevitably switch hands three times only to be claimed by the lucky third owner.
Deck the RV out in lavish decor, light your holiday scented candles, turn on your favorite holiday beats, bake some yummy treats, and sit back and enjoy your festive Holiday Parties in the RV!
