Halloween Haunts
Fall is here! After a hot summer, it is now time to enjoy some cooler weather.
October camping is awesome in most regions of the country. We still get some pretty warm days, yet the evenings cool down to where an evening campfire sounds inviting.
Once a year, we get the opportunity to go camping where Halloween is The Experience. Many campgrounds and RV parks plan numerous on-site Halloween experiences. Fun for the adults and safe for the kids, camping and Halloween means good times for everyone.
Extra special this year, is that Halloween falls on a Saturday. Folks can sleep-in on Saturday morning, enjoy the entire day, sleep in on Sunday morning, and drive home in the afternoon. Halloween doesn’t get any better than that!
Here’s a rundown on campgrounds that offer great Halloween activities this year.
Let’s start on the Pacific coast in San Diego. Campland on the Bay has all day events for the whole family. Games including dodge ball, horseshoes, and capture the flag are great for everyone. They have arts and craft classes, tie dye shirt classes, and a fun Halloween evening.
Our next haunt, Emerald RV Resort in Palm Desert has a pumpkin festival weekend. Pumpkin carving contests, Halloween inspired drinks for kids and adults, all are topped with a costume parade.
Located in Sierra Nevada foothills, 49er Village RV Resort in Plymouth has Halloween costume and campsite competitions that everyone can join in on.
Lake Rudolph Campground and RV Resort in Santa Claus, Indiana holds seven Halloween weekends each year. They are seasoned experts and have been doing Halloween right for many years. You’ll experience Bonfire Ghost Stories, Rudy’s Kids’ Carnival, Haunted Hayrides, Frightful Film Classics, and a Halloween party complete with sound and light show.
Compton Ridge Campground and Lodge in Branson, Missouri holds two Witchy Weekends in October. They feature a Spook House, site decorating, pumpkin carving, hay rides, and hot wassail.
Pin Oak Creek RV Park and Paintball in Villa Ridge, Missouri has five Halloween weekends in October and November. They have Mummy Wrap, pumpkin carving, Haunted Trail, Flashlight Bone Hunt, and Campfire Tales.
Whispering Hills Jellystone Park, in Big Prairie, Ohio knows how to have fun on Halloween. They put together a great Haunted Corn Maze, Children’s Straw Maze, costume contests, campsite decorating contests, and lots more.
