Grand Canyon PHO_250000533_2The Grand Canyon Railway RV Park takes RV travelers back in time to a period when train travel was the most dominant mode of transportation. Most importantly, the park uses environmental practices that help maintain the ecological soundness of this valuable region of Arizona.

Built in 1901, the Grand Canyon Railway has taken people into the heart of one of this natural wonder for over a century. For guests of the railway’s RV park the proximity of this famous railroad is just one of many the charms of the 124-site RV park.

The park has a picnic pavilion with four premium gas grills along with a community fire pit, so you can be in the greatest of outdoor settings. Enjoy the fresh air and lovely mountain backdrop, mixed with the familiar sound of train whistles from the nearby railroad.

Grand Canyon Railway (GCR) has been recognized as “Highly Commended” by Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards in the category “Responsible Transport.”

In addition to using vegetable fuel to power the trains, the resort has a program to recycle used railroad ties, glass, metal electronics, paint and paper. It has installed 10kw solar photovoltaic panels generating 21,000 kwh of electricity at its Grand Depot Café, 252 solar thermal panels reducing natural gas consumption by 17 percent at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and a combined wind turbine/solar photovoltaic system to power its radio repeater. The hotel also installed low-flow plumbing fixtures in guest bathrooms and light emitting diodes (LEDs) and compact florescent lighting (CFL).  Get more info on Grand Canyon Railway RV Park.
