Camping on the (Taos) Mesa

When looking for a place to camp in northern New Mexico, think about Taos Monte Bello RV Park and Convenience Store. Located on five acres of the beautiful Taos Mesa, Monte Bello is conveniently located for access to Taos, the many activities and attractions of the Taos Ski Valley or southern Colorado. The views can’t be beat as the part sits at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

There is much to do in Taos, NM. Visitors are entranced by the 1000 year old Taos Pueblo, home of the Pueblo Native Americans. The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is a short five-minute drive from the park. Built in 1965, it is the second highest suspension bridge in the country. Another option is a hot air balloon ride to view the gorge in all its glory. In addition, Taos is filled with art galleries and museums to help you while away your vacation time.

The park has something for everyone. In addition to security gates and a 24 hour host, the park boasts clean restrooms, showers and laundry facilities. There is also a lounge, pavilion, library and a hiking path. For those interested in playing games, Monte Bello provides a horseshoe pit, volleyball net and a play ground, as well as free wifi.

Rates are reasonable: full hookups and 30 amp service are $34.00 a day; 50 amp service is $36.0 per day. Water and electric alone will run a mere $30.00. The spacious sites are pull-throughs with enough room for the largest rig and all of your slide outs.

Monte Bello’s convenience store is second to none. In fact, many locals on the north end of Taos stop in for a quick cup of coffee and an ice cream cone. Fully stocked with all of the essentials you forgot to pack the convenience store also carries awning tie downs, a variety of hoses and gift items to take back home at the end of your trip. When looking for a home away from home in northern New Mexico, look no further than Monte Bello.
