When my children were in their teenage years, their father and I went through a divorce. The girls were rebellious, probably more so because of the turmoil. I went on to remarry and things appeared to calm down slightly.
My new husband and I bought a pop up camper and invited the now adult children, two grandchildren and one husband along on a trip to Lake Bomoseen, Vermont. My husband and I traded in the pop up while up in Vermont for a larger hybrid travel trailer. Everyone had a wonderful time, with bonding and healing a big part of the week. We can now say we’re family without having someone roll their eyes.
