Some parts of the country are still trying to thaw, but here in El Cajon, we’re having a spring fling and an active April — and soon it will be time to play all May! The weather is mighty fine, and with so much to do. Grab your flip-flops and your sense of adventure and head over to Vacationer RV Park for access to all the best of San Diego and a warm and welcoming place to lay your head.
Take a hike
People come from around the world to explore the Cleveland National Forest and its 460,000-acres of hiking, natural beauty, and native wildlife. Don’t miss a chance to see the breathtaking Cedar Creek Falls, with its spectacular, plunging 80-foot waterfall and pool. The two-and-a-half-mile hike (each way) through the scenic surroundings is well worth it. If you brought your off road vehicle on the trip, you’ll want to head to Bear Valley Trailhead in the Cleveland National Forest for a wild ride.
Go back in time
A short drive from Vacationer RV Park, the historic mountain town of Julian in the Cuyamaca Mountains offers four seasons of fun and family-friendly adventure. Take advantage of beautiful sun-soaked weather in spring and go apple picking (and apple pie eating), take a carriage ride, and even pan for gold. Now is the perfect time to visit, with Taste of Julian, “a self-guided culinary tour of participating one-of-a-kind restaurants, wineries, and breweries,” on May 12.
Drop a line
Did you pack your poles? Lake Jennings is a great place to spend a day on the water, freshwater fishing. The lake is stocked with 30,000 pounds of trout and catfish each year, and largemouth bass, redear sunfish, and bluegill can also be found. Fish from the shoreline or rent a boat onsite. You can also get your fishing license right here.
Check out the Fish Report to get an idea of what to expect on the water.
Play your best hand
You don’t want to take a gamble on an RV resort, but if you’re looking to gamble in a casino, you’ll find some great nearby options. Slots, table games, poker, bingo — pick your game and head to Barona Casino, Viejas Casino or Sycuan Casino. Sycuan is also a favorite entertainment spot, with a full concert schedule that includes upcoming shows, like Sara Evans on April 24, the Como La Flor Selena Tribute Concert on May 5 and comedy from Paul Rodriguez on May 19.
See the San Diego sights
Visitors to Vacationer RV Park enjoy being able to see the sights in San Diego, while also spending time in and around El Cajon and close to the resort. Not only does Vacationer offer easy access to the heart of San Diego thanks to its location just off Interstate 8, but a ride on the San Diego Trolley makes getting around and arriving at the city’s top attractions convenient. You can easily reach everything, from historic Old Town, to Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, some of San Diego’s best beaches, and Centre City without getting behind the wheel yourself. But make sure to leave plenty of time for exploring Downtown El Cajon’s cafes, restaurants and special events, like the Cajon Classic Cruise that starts mid-April.
Lushly landscaped Vacationer RV Park offers 160 well-appointed RV sites, including some of the largest pull-through sites in the area, along with a host of resort amenities, such as a clubhouse and a heated pool and spa.
