While Washington is known for its gorgeous, old-growth temperate rain forest and ample outdoors activities, it’s also a wonderful region for wine production. This itinerary will lead you to some of the best vineyards in the state.

1. Seattle

Starting Point • Entertainment, Food

Most visitors to Seattle associate the Emerald City with the Space Needle, Starbucks and the Seahawks, but there’s also an excellent wine scene in town. Selections include Charles Smith Wines Jet City, Eight Bells Winery, Robert Ramsay Cellars and Domanico Cellars. About 20 miles north, the tasting-room-rich town of Woodinville has plenty of great vintners.
