This video was created from some photos and a couple video clips taken with our Nikon Coolpix camera during last week’s stay at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park. If you like waterfront sites and lots of greenery – check out this state park.
We’ve taken thousands of pictures during our 7 years of RV travels and they bring us such joy! I couldn’t agree more with the recent RV.net blog post from Barry and Monique Zander, “Keep a Visual Record of Your Travels.” That article gives you lots of great tips about taking pictures.
Does your Camera take Video Clips Also?
I want to talk to you about taking video. So many of the little point-and-shoot cameras today take video as well as still photos, and video can really enhance the memories involved. Most people don’t know what to do with those videos though.
- Can you just email them along with pictures?
- How do you get the great 2 minute clip of Joe catching the fish without the 5 previous (boring) minutes of film?
- How do you make a video to share that includes two video clips plus a few of the best still shots?
- How can you upload the videos to Youtube, or Facebook so your family and friends can enjoy them too?
Free Editing Software
You may be surprised to know how easy it is to edit your video clips, combine them with your still shots, add some music, and upload to Youtube or Facebook … all for free!
Picasa, my favorite photo editing tool, can actually do a little video editing as well as combining video and photos into a new movie.
For the video above, I used Windows Live Movie Maker. It is a free download for Windows Vista or Windows 7.
What about you? Do you edit your camera’s videos? Do you share them unedited? Or do you never use that setting on your camera?

Hey, you used to write magnificent posts, but the last few posts have been kinda lackluster… I miss your great posts. Past several posts are just a little bit out of track!

Beautiful park, we discovered it in ’95 while traveling in our 5th wheel. From there to Andersonville, what a campground. Then to Plains, we even got to watch President Carter pitch softball at the school.
Need to wait for a better connection to watch the video.

An absolutely great video!
I loved it!
I’ve always told my hubby that I want to explore Georgia and surrounding states. I showed him this and he was impressed. This has definately helped my case, for when we are fully retired and can travel further from home for longer time spans.
Thank you for sharing with us.

Lovely video. I play around with making little videos but this program, Windows Live Movie Maker, does not work with XP. I’m not quite ready for a new computer yet so I can’t work toward a nice end product like that one. Too bad – we just came home (ON) from a 4-week trip from Florida to the Grand Canyon. I have hundreds of photos and many videos and would love that program. The old Windows Movie Maker won’t cut it any more for me.
