Google keeps adding features all the time to it’s Maps program and it is nothing short of awesome. Just go to www.maps.google.com and be prepared to be amazed. I expect to write many blog posts about ways that travelers can use Google maps. This one is about how easy it is to get directions. Just click on the link to ‘Get Directions’ and two new fields will appear; ‘Start Address’ and ‘End Address.’ You can enter specific street addresses, or you can simply enter cities and states. Click on ‘Get Directions’ again, and you will quickly be rewarded with a thick blue line displaying the route as well as turn by turn directions and a total mileage for your planned trip.
But, the best part is how you can alter the route by simply dragging a point to another spot. I’ll show you exactly what I’m talking about if you just click play on the video below.

You can’t load google maps into a GARMIN GPS and I’m pretty sure not into any other brand either.

Darrel: You use both. Plan & play w/ highways, points of interest, places to stop, etc. w/ Google I believe Google has feature to get a satelite view. ie see a RVcamp ground. (Treesshade. paved sites, etc. )
Then feed your trip into GPS.
QUESTION ? Anyone know how to load google maps into GPS electronic from computer to GPS ? TXBRAD

Hi Chris, wouldn’t a real geek just use a GARMIN GPS? 😉
