Popular attractions include the 18th-century Franciscan Mission Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Dine at some of the finest restaurants in the state. The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is home to more than 1,000 species of native plants.

3. Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach is known for its annual Clam Festival as well as scenic beaches and attractions. Make a visit to Monarch Butterfly Grove, a eucalyptus grove that’s visited by the namesake insect in late fall and throughout the winter. The town’s southern fringes run along the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes, where central California’s only drive-on beach provides a magnificent setting for recreation

 

4. Paso Robles

Wrap your trip up in Paso Robles, best known for its thriving viticulture industry. Several wineries open their doors for tasting, and travelers shouldn’t miss Sculpterra Winery & Sculpture Garden, where flavorful vintages are served amid beautiful works of art. Learn how the West was won at the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, which features replica and original artifacts from the town’s pioneer days.
