RV Tips: Use a Pizza Stone for Even Cooking.
One problem I always had when using the oven was uneven heat distribution. Cookies, chicken strips and biscuits — among other things — would often come out burned on the bottom. To solve this, I use a pizza stone to bake on. The heat is evenly distributed on the surface of the stone, and food comes out cooked just right.

Sounds like an excellent idea. Where can a pizza stone be purchased.

Will any of the ‘stones’ work in a microwave – rectangular or ???

Great idea. I found a silicone Pizza sheet also works well. No more burning with that either.

I use an unglazed patio tile ( saltillo ) wrapped in foil on the floor of the oven for the same purpose

Mines the opposite — convection oven burns on top with no browning on bottom. Anyone found a solution?

Great tip, thanks Jennifer! We have been using cast iron heat diffusers for the stove top burners and this is the same idea.

We went to our local tile retailer and purchased 6 unglazed ceramic tiles which did the same trick only at a much lesser cost. Seems to do the trick and we pack them inside our dish drying mat under the kitchen sink when we’re in transit.

We also use those round defusers usually found at flea. Markets works well also

They also make a them in rectangular shape, the smaller one fit our oven perfectly.

I bake a lot when camping. Family and friends always look forward to warm cookies. I learned after burning the first batch that I needed to do something. Tried using 2 cookie sheets. That helped. Then used a griddle from an old stove that I used on the Coleman stove for making toast. That helped a lot. Now I also have a pizza stone which has completely solved the problem. Just be aware that you have to adjust the cooking time up and sometimes, the baking temp.
