Travel in 2020 looks quite different from travel in previous years. Flying, gathering in large groups, or going to major events isn’t an option for most. But you can still drive somewhere and get away from daily stresses, even if only for a few days. Coos Bay, North Bend and Charleston, collectively known as Oregon’s Adventure Coast, offer travelers an abundance of opportunities to do just that. With uncrowded beaches, undiscovered hiking and biking trails, sand dunes, coves, and waterfalls, find your perfect adventures while staying safe this fall.

Reveling in the outdoors has always drawn travelers to Oregon’s Adventure Coast. But now, our natural setting, with space to explore and space to social distance, is high on many travelers’ lists.

Bike riders will find several wooded trails on Oregon’s Adventure Coast.

It’s easy to stay 6 feet apart from others while careening over the dunes of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area in an ATV, kayaking in the South Slough, paddleboarding on the Millacoma River or zipping along Whiskey Run, a the top-rated single track mountain biking trail. Outfitters here will provide all the gear you need or bring your own.

Hiking is a local favorite. One of a kind treks include ascending to the top of Golden Falls, along the rugged coastal cliffs from Sunset Bay State Park to Shore Acres State Park and Cape Arago State Park. For another unique outdoor adventure, hike through the coastal forest and wetlands of the South Slough Estuary.

Hungry? Dine on fresh fish tacos, Dungeness crab cakes, gourmet pizza, or juicy hamburgers. Many area restaurants are now open for dining in, and take out is available for an al fresco picnic on the Coos Bay Boardwalk.
