Still recovering from the holiday feasts? Ready to burn off some of those unwanted pounds?

There’s a good chance that your snowbird roost has lots of exercise opportunities not far from your RV park. And the best part: You can have a great time while getting fit. Take a look at the outdoor activities prevalent in your snowbird roosts and determine if they’re right for you:

Hiking—If you’re snowbirding in a area mountainous region, you can bet there are lots of challenging hikes. Lace up your best pair of boots and hit the trail—but don’t get in over your head. Check the terrain and mileage of the route  you’re hiking to make sure it doesn’t put too much of a strain on your body. Also, make sure to bring ample water and sunscreen.

Kayaking—Snowbirding near a coastal area? Kayaking exercises the upper body and provides a fantastic cardio workout. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the water and go at your own pace. As aways, make sure you kayak with life vests. If you’re renting, be sure that the outfitter provides a watercraft that can accommodate your weight and size.

Biking—If you’re fortunate, you’ll be staying in an area with well-delineated bike paths. Biking is a great way to familiarize yourself with an area and is suitable for all fitness levels. As always, observe the rules of the road and go at your own pace. Consider investing an a bike rack so you can take your own two-wheel vehicles wherever you go.

Urban Trails—If you’re camping near a big city, it’s worth your time to check out the urban ambling opportunities, from art walks to self-guided history tours and more. Learn about the area you’re visiting and have a great time in the process. You might even forget that you’re getting fit!
