Bernice Beard

Bearnice BeardExpert RVer Bernice Beard is a veteran motorhomer whose major trips with her husband have included a 44-day caravan through Alaska and extended cross-country excursions. She chronicled these trips in four books, including At Your Own Pace: Traveling Your Way in Your Motorhome, Alaska at Your Own Pace: Traveling by RV Caravan, and Colorado at Your Own Pace: Traveling by Motorhome with Friends. Her book 301 Ways to Make RV Travel Safer, Easier, and More Fun was recommended by the New York Times.

Beard frequently serves as an expert resource to newspapers and magazines throughout the country. In addition, her columns and articles have appeared online, in newspapers and in magazines, including BottomLine Tomorrow, Mature Traveler, Family Motor Coaching and Monaco publications; and in numerous newspapers throughout the country.

On the road, Beard collects information, takes photographs and records observations in her laptop computer. These materials and insights provide the basis for her manuscripts.

A Maryland native, Beard earned both her bachelor of arts and master of liberal arts degrees from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) where she was also employed full time until her retirement. She and her husband, Paul, reside in Westminster, Maryland. They have one married son.

Beard is a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, the Good Sam Club, the Westminster Church of the Brethren Camping Group and the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club. She is a charter member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

RV travel remains a source of joy and adventure for Beard and her husband. They RV on weekends and take a major trip of several weeks or months each year. New dreams and destinations always seem to call them back on the road.
