Saskatoon

With more sunny days per year than almost any other Canadian city, winning the country’s climate lottery might have been enough for Saskatoon. But these days, the “Paris of the Prairies” boasts both a vibrant, culturally diverse downtown scene and natural beauty to spare, making this one of Canada’s most welcoming and active cities.

Roaming the River Bank

Nature lovers will find that outdoor experiences are close at hand in Saskatoon, and it all starts with the Meewasin Valley, a green space that borders the South Saskatchewan River as it cuts through the city’s downtown. Totaling nearly 40 miles, the Meewasin Trail winds through forests and along the riverbank before branching off into smaller paths.

Finding Fishing and More

Just over a half-hour south of the city, the twin watering holes of Blackstrap Lake and Brightwater Reservoir provide anglers the chance to land large walleye, along with boating and swimming.

Speedy in Saskatoon

NASCAR fans who time their trip right can head to the Wyant Group Raceway on the city’s north side to enjoy two days of stock car races during the Pinty’s Series circuit in late July.

Saskatoon Heritage

Step back in time to discover the roots of Saskatoon’s diverse cultural traditions with a visit to the Western Development Museum, the province’s largest human history museum, with over 75,000 artifacts and living history exhibits.
