Chickasaw Nation

Discover a treasure trove of Native American history and outdoor adventure

Home to an array of rugged state parks, tranquil lakes, scenic waterfalls and crystal-clear rivers and streams, the Chickasaw Nation offers a bounty of outdoor adventures and cultural enlightenment for every age and dispensation.

Chickasaw Cultural Center

Set within an idyllic mosaic of curvaceous hills, gentle woodlands and rippling streams, the Chickasaw Cultural Center ranks as one of the largest tribal heritage institutions in the country. A series of lively, interactive exhibits provide compelling insight into the Chickasaw legacy. There’s the Mosaic Room, which features a wall of thousands of shimmering Italian tiles in a replica of a 1723 deerskin map. The Spirit Forest’s multisensory exhibits reveal how the Chickasaw people’s cultural and spiritual identity is entwined with their quest for harmony with nature, and the Exhibit Gallery provides a fun, interactive experience.

The Chickasaw Cultural Center’s highlight is the Chikasha Inchokka, a re-creation of a historical Native American village, complete with a council house, a replica mound, a corn crib, a stickball field and a stockade fence. Several hands-on activities allow visitors to dabble in the customs of Chickasaw life; there are blowgun and archery demonstrations, cooking lessons and storytelling.

Lake Texoma and Turner Falls

Located between Dallas and Oklahoma City, Lake Texoma is a popular recreation site that sits near the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge.

Turner Falls Park ranks as Oklahoma’s oldest park. Nestled within the Arbuckle Mountains — the oldest known formations in the U.S. between the Appalachian and Rocky mountains — the waterfalls plummet 77 feet into Honey Creek, becoming a clear, natural swimming pool

Win at WinStar

One of the highlights of Chickasaw Nation, the immense WinStar Casino and Resort prides itself in being the “largest casino in the entire world.” The casino is home to over 600,000 square feet of gaming, including 7,400 electronic games, nearly 100 game tables, a bingo hall, poker hall and off-track betting areas.

Dedicated golfers owe it to themselves to check out the spectacular WinStar Golf Course. Golfers can tackle 36 holes on 280 beautiful acres of vast green in a resort-style setting. Designed by D.A. Weibring, the course is challenging enough for both novice and expert golfers. WinStar Golf Course also hosts tournaments, outings and events in the 10,000-square-foot rustic clubhouse.
