Welcome to New Brunswick

Tucked in among the rest of the Maritime Provinces on Canada’s rocky yet lush eastern coast, New Brunswick is a popular destination for anyone seeking a little down-to-earth charm and relaxation.

Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John are the go-to places for what is considered big city life here, but don’t expect anything short of a small town atmosphere. In capital city Fredericton, be sure to stroll the Historic Garrison District. In Moncton, don’t miss Centennial Park and Tidal Bore Park full of gorgeous scenery. And in Saint John, explore Canada’s oldest incorporated city on a walking tour.

Other popular family friendly attractions include Magnetic Hill Zoo, Magic Mountain Waterpark and Roosevelt Campobello International Park.

Adventure

Sparsely populated and dotted around the edges with tidy towns and fishing villages, the Picture Province is often used as a steppingstone between the west and the rest of the Atlantic provinces. But those who stop here to explore are rewarded with a world of dense forests, idyllic streams and scenic coastline.

At the northern end of the Bay of Fundy (home to the highest tides in the world), the Hopewell Rocks coast is a must visit that’s home to an Interpretive Centre and lots of scenic lookouts. Nearby Fundy National Park is another popular destination for fun in the great outdoors.

Entertainment

If you’re visiting in January or February, you can take in the fun at Canada’s largest winter celebration—the Fredericton Frostival. Attendees enjoy ice skating, live music, gourmet foods and more.

Spring brings the Maple Capital of Atlantic Canada Festival to Saint-Quentin and the Fire Festival to Moncton. The former festival is filled with maple-flavoured sweets, while the latter is a book lover’s paradise, featuring readings and signings.

Summer in New Brunswick features more events and festivals than seems reasonable, including the St. Mary’s First Nation Pow Wow, Shediac Lobster Festival, Busker on the Bay Festival, Folksong Festival, New Brunswick Highland Games Festival and the Laméque International Baroque Music Festival, to name just a few.
