Jon has been taking photographs since the early 50’s. His father was an advanced amateur, carrying around a Speed Graphics press camera before he switched to 35mm in the 60’s. Jon often worked along side him and wherever they lived, one room always became a darkroom.
With the exception of 2 years in the US Army, including 1 year with the 101st Airborne in Viet Nam, Jon spent his entire working life as a “Instructional Support Specialist” with the Theatre Department at the State University of New York at Oswego. He retired in 2002 after 37 years. While at SUNY Jon maintained the electronics for the department, designed sound & special effects for many theatrical productions, and developed & taught courses in sound design, electronics, special effects & photography. He still does the show photography for the department.
Jon and his wife Carol enjoy traveling; so far they have made 8 road trips across the US, the majority on the non interstate “red roads” as well as many shorter trips around the eastern US & Canada. In addition to traveling, Jon enjoys landscape & nature photography, working with the Red Cross Disaster Services, and maintaining a completely out of control photography & RV Information web page at http://www.lakeshoreimages.com.
