Pahrump

Fast cars, fine wines and dramatic scenery await visitors to this bountiful southern Nevada destination. Just 60 miles west of Las Vegas, Pahrump has staked a claim for itself as an alternative to big-city glitz. Serving up small-town charm with all the amenities you could ask for, it’s a great place to unwind and the perfect jumping-off point for exploring some of the Southwest’s most awe-inspiring outdoors destinations.

Days of Thunder

Quench your thirst for speed at the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, where you can drive high-performance vehicles. Here, the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School, Cadillac V-Performance Academy and Radical Racing School offer instruction on an exhilarating professional track under the guidance of expert drivers. Learn how to navigate banked curves and tight corners like a racing pro.

Desert Vintages

If you prefer white wine to white knuckles, a visit to the Pahrump Valley Winery or the Sanders Family Winery should satisfy your palate. Relax with a visit to the tasting rooms, a tour of the vineyards with desert mountain views in the distance and fine dining options for a night out. Discover the unique flavors found only in this desert environment.

Outdoors

Hiking, biking and horseback riding are popular pastimes in Pahrump, where the trails are plentiful and the sights one-of-a-kind. On foot, try the Wallace Canyon trail east of town. There’s parking and an easy footpath, as well as access to the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, home to Mount Charleston, where hikers and mountain bikers can enjoy mountain vistas and dazzling flowers and plants found nowhere else in the world.

Wild West Days

Over three days each May, the Wild West Extravaganza and Bluegrass Festival celebrates the homesteading history of Nevada’s pioneers with bluegrass music, rodeos and trail rides. The free event has activities for the whole family. Plan on going sky high if you visit during February’s Pahrump Balloon Festival.
