Anyone with an interest in military history will likely be enthralled by Fort Ticonderoga (AKA Fort Cariollon), a French-built fort on the banks of Lake Champlain that dates back to Seven Years’ War in the mid 18th-century. It fell into ruins for many years until 1908, when it was restored and reopened as a tourist attraction. Today the fort features a wide range of exhibits on everything from artillery to medicine along with regular historic reenactments.
