“Tippecanoe & Tyler, Too” is more than just a slogan from the 1840 presidential campaign. The 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe, fought near present-day Lafayette, is explored in the area’s Battlefield Museum. You can also trace your family’s history at the nearby Genealogy Center. Take the kids (adults, too) on a science trip to Imagination Station, or sample local brews at the Lafayette Brewing Company. See an antique doll museum, a classic pinball machine collection, and stop and smell the roses as you walk the Heritage Trail along the Wabash River.

In the 1800s, the Wabash and Erie Canal was an essential shipping route linking the Great Lakes and the Ohio River. Learn this history at Delhi’s Wabash & Erie Canal Interpretive Center & Museum. There’s so much to do in Monticello. Ride a 3-deck, 135-foot river cruiser, the Madam Carroll, then go back on land and race little speedsters at the NASCAR Go Cart Track. Brave the roller coaster at the Indiana Beach Boardwalk Resort, bowl a perfect score at local lanes, see the latest movies and visit the area’s beautiful parks and Clegg Botanical Gardens. Catch a ballgame at the Ross-Ade Stadium and chill out in a hot tub at Buccaneer Bay Indoor Aquatic Center.
