Arkansas
Soak your cares away at the Fordyce Bathhouse in Hot Springs after hiking in the surrounding mountains. While in Hot Springs, you’ll also want to take the kids to the National Park Aquarium and to the three family-fun parks in town. Back in your RV, drive over to Salesville. The kids will love spending the day in the Norfork National Fish Hatchery.
Kansas
Louis L’Amour, the great Western fiction writer, wrote that “Kansas is where the long grass blows,” and the state gained prominence as the destination for Texas cattle drives. It follows that you’ll need to take the kids to the Old Cowtown Museum in Wichita, after which you’ll want to visit the Sedgwick County Zoo. And if you’re a fan of Dorothy and the “Wizard of Oz,” you’ll also want to visit the Oz Museum in Wamego.

Louisiana
Who doesn’t have New Orleans on their bucket list? If you’re into partying and parades, you’ll be at Mardi Gras; if you’re into family fun, you’ll plan your visit when the crowds are smaller and the attractions are easier to attend. See gators galore in Houma and relive history in Baton Rouge. A river cruise up the mighty Mississippi is in your future; some cruise ships will even accommodate your RV. Enjoy the food, the music, the ambiance, the people and the history of the Pelican State.
Missouri
Ride to the top of 630-foot-high Gateway Arch in St. Louis, board a side-wheeler on the Mississippi River, catch a catfish along its banks or just sit and watch the boat traffic on the Big Muddy. If you like music and dancing, Branson is a family-friendly entertainment mecca; you’ll also find an abundance of amusement parks throughout the state.
Oklahoma
Whitewater rafting in the Sooner State—who knew? Oklahoma City’s Boathouse District along the Oklahoma River serves up frothy currents and waterslides for thrill-seekers. Get away from the rapids and drop a line in one of the state’s many lakes—Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees is just one of the places that yields prize fish. More family fun awaits in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Texas
The only state that was once its own country, Texas is huge in history, size, beauty and attitude. San Antonio serves up a small taste of Texas with the Alamo and River Walk. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex will dazzle, while Galveston on the Gulf is a treat for the whole family.
