The Truth About “Glamping”

The Truth About Glamping is…why not make yourself as comfortable as possible while camping?? Especially considering the rising nightly rates, outlandish gas prices, and the booked and sometimes overcrowded campgrounds? Quite honestly “Glamping” is the way to go!

To look more into the phenomenon of “glamping,” we must first look at the definition and meaning behind the term itself.  According to the Urban Dictionary at http://www.urbandictionary.com, “Glamping” is defined as “Shorthand for glamorous camping; luxury camping.” So although it may have a bad connotation, it is actually just camping with a luxurious spin on it. Whether it means your RV is decked out like these unique ones or you simply wouldn’t consider camping in anything other than an RV, there is absolutely nothing wrong with “Glamping” despite the negative connotations surrounding this term.

It is common for women, especially, to be known for glamping, to the extreme that some might argue they aren’t camping at all. There is something to said for camping with certain luxuries, such as a pimped out RV,a well-stocked/full refrigerator and ice chest of delicacies, and every comfort from home that is portable. The truth about “glamping” is that some of these same women (who enjoy “glamping” so much) can also go on (and enjoy!) camping trips with no more than a tent, a change of clothes, and some essentials, such as food, water, and a sleeping bag. I, in fact, have been known to enjoy “roughing it” with no more than the above-mentioned items and yet, especially now that I am pregnant, I won’t venture out and go camping without certain necessary “glamping” requirements met.

While some will not consider camping without the right set of circumstances and certain “glamping” requirements met, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. They are still camping, they have simply mastered the art of making themselves as comfortable as possible when away from the luxurious comforts of home. So whether you enjoy “glamping” or simply camping (roughing-it style), don’t judge those with the nicest, newest RVs plum full of the glamorous things available to us all. So now that you know the Truth about “Glamping, ” enjoy “Glamping” to the fullest RVers!
